How can I take one of your art history courses?

I love teaching art history online! I open a limited number of courses each year so I can devote my full attention to my students. Courses and seminars are by invitation only. Browse my courses here, and if the one you want isn’t open, join the waitlist. You’ll get an email from me as soon as it’s open for registration.

Will you speak at my event or customize something for my group?

Email me at [email protected] with your specific request.

Will you join my book club?

Yes! I love joining book clubs. Get all the details here.

How can I get signed copies of your books?

You can buy all formats of my books–including signed copies–here. I’m happy to ship a box of books for book clubs. If you already own a book and would like to receive a free, signed adhesive bookplate in the mail, send your mailing address to [email protected].

Should I read your books in a certain order?

Each one of my books stands alone, so you can read them in any order. If you’re new to my Venetian series, start with The Painter’s Apprentice.

I have a [family heirloom / mystery painting / estate-sale find / thing I bought in Italy years ago]. Can you tell me what it is and how much it’s worth?

I love seeing what people find in their attics but art advising / appraisal isn’t part of my business. A certified appraiser will help you much better than I can. A certified, local appraiser will examine your piece in person and guide you about value and provenance. They will also be able to suggest options if it makes sense to sell. In North America, look for an appraiser certified by the American Society of Appraisers or the International Society of Appraisers.

Will you give me travel advice / offer a tour / plan my trip to Italy?

Sorry! I’d never write another book if I responded to the volume of requests I receive for these services. I recommend lots of culture/art-related things to do in my weekly email newsletter (click here to subscribe) and in my authentic shopping guidebook series. There are some wonderful Italy trip planners who specialize in specific regions and will help you with logistics much better than I can. If you’re looking for something very customized, email me at [email protected] and I can recommend a trip planner to help you.

Will you read / review / help me write / publish my book?

No, I’m sorry! I have a hard enough time making my own deadlines. 🙂 Thanks for understanding!

Who should I contact about film / tv / foreign / translation / subsidiary rights?

Please email my agent, Jenny Bent, at [email protected].

Can I reach you directly?

Absolutely! I do my best to read and respond personally to emails, but please understand that I get hundreds of messages per day. Between my writing / teaching schedule and family responsibilities, it often takes me a while to respond and I can’t get to every message. Thank you for understanding! My email address is [email protected].

If you need customer service with an order, email [email protected].
